Founded 29 years ago by artistic director Joan Myers Brown, the exuberant Philadelphia Dance Company- aka Philadanco – is a widely touring African-American repertory company. Hailed as one of America’s foremost dance ensembles, Philadanco exhibits an unparalleled energy and superior technical ability. Performing the works of distinguished choreographers such as Talley Beatty, Gene Hill Sagan, Blondell Cummings, Donald Byrd and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, the company combines adventurous choreography and bright new talent to illuminate the black experience through rhythm and movement.
