The recent renovation of the magnificent Café Florianihof has done nothing to detract from its original minimalist beauty – all embossed wood panelling, parquet floor and Jugendstil lamps. On the contrary, the place has been given a new lease of life with the superbly presented Italian-inspired cooking of Marcos Ruhl. The menu changes weekly with five main courses as well as the staples associated with Viennese cuisine. On a walk round Vienna’s stately eighth district, the Florianihof is great spot to rest your weary legs, catch up with the international press, check your e-mail, enjoy a fine cup of coffee or have a memorable meal.
