Amid the resident lions, tigers and gorillas at Lincoln Park Zoo this atypical rock and roll band offers music that is fun and danceable. Cowboy Mouth is comprised of New Orleans’ natives who have been touring for seven years and recently released their new album, ‘Mercyland’. Up-and-coming 15-year-old blues-guitarist Shannon Curfman, who recently signed with Arista Records, opens this event which is a benefit for one of America’s few remaining free zoos. Advance tickets are a bargain $15, and dinner, beer, wine and soft drinks are available at the concert.

Big Bowl
Noodles continue to be trendy, as this stylish, affordable Asian chain opens its fourth Chicago location. The interior is characteristically smart, with contemporary light-grained wood and bowl-shaped banquettes. The menu features five kinds of fresh noodles and chicken potstickers and dumplings. The emphasis is on fresh flavours – even the peanut sauce is prepared with home-roasted peanuts. At an interactive stir-fry bar patrons choose from an array of vegetables to be wok-cooked with their choice of sauces, and chicken or beef atop noodles or rice.
